How about your promise, ChessPraxis - any abstinence problems...? 🙂

Not as long as any of the resolutions are followed through. This could be a motivation, couldn't it?

Yes maybe, hope so.

Not really a 'new years' resolution but more of a early January life change... eating better and getting more excessive. Been going since Monday and all is good so far... legs hurt so taking a break from excursive today to let my muscles recover, will go for a 30 minute walk though.

As of the diet, cutting down on sugar is the in thing at the moment but I've been knowingly eating way to much of the stuff for years now so no chocolate, no sweets, no fruit juices, much less precooked and canned things and no alcohol.

Have given myself one day a week to enjoy some thing that I miss, it's impossible to just cut off everything, plus you need to look forward to something to keep going.

I know I sound like a broken record but what about moderation?

It sounds all very good - a good way to live and stay well. 🙂

It's a little like smoking - you had better not do it at all.

My New Year's resolutions thread died a quick death, maybe it was "too early". I guess timing really is everything. Plus, the first post was just a re-type of an article in my local paper, no real call for reader participation.

"excessive"? "excursive"?

I'm guessing these were your spell-checker's attempts at fixing your broken "exercise".

Nah, I tried it once but I didn't like it. Maybe 'cause I didn't inhale. 😛

I don't can't do moderation - if I buy a chocolate bar I will eat all of it in one day, just can't eat some of it and leave it, regardless of the size. Plus when you don't eat sweet things after a while non-sweet things taste better.

I have friends who are like that - either nothing or too much just like your chocolate bar.
