. . . Buy one of the better anti-virus programs out there like McAfee. . .
I know a lot of people who complain about Norton because of the lousy service, however, most people in my town have Norton because they are an uneducated bunch. The younger people (myself included) use alternates. my former student coworker uses AVG and it was recommended from a computer information systems analyst, so it is a high praise.
Originally posted by Whats goin on ehI have used Mcafee and Norten both, And I would recremend Norten over Mcaffe any day. I have a network of business computers, and Mcaffe dont work as well, It has let several virues in that Norten filtered out. Plus Norten is so much easier to run although it tends to slow the computer somewhat if you have a old computer

Mcaffe has popups all the time letting you know whats going on, asking what to do, whereas Norten bugs you less and does its own thing in the background
More people use Norton than any other AV program, [according to my information] so it stands to reason you'll see more complaints about them than any of the others, I'd like to see some "percentage of users problems statistics". If you just use the AV and not any of their "extras" I find it works ok.
Or at least it did when I had it before I changed to AVG.
Kerio is another good free firewall.
