Originally posted by TDR1Could be, but it doesn't really matter. Thanks to culture, human life is changing far faster than genetic evolution could possibly act. In fact, this is true even in parts of the genome: genetic screening of babies is already forcing down the prevalence of mutations like the one that causes cystic fibrosis at an incredible rate, evolution-wise. Within a few generations, we might find this is even true with respect to the emergence of new (forms of) genes, if we start some serious tinkering. A time will probably come when scientists won't be able to make head or tail of how humanity and its successors evolved 'naturally' over the years, as the process will be completely swamped by deliberate interventions.
actually, humans are evolving much slower than before. Now, natural selection or 'survival of the fittest, does not affect humans because we have the ability to control our environment. So now, evolution is working even slower.

Now however people with challenges can definitely breed. Not saying it's a good thing, nor a bad thing, just a thing.

See, easy! No one can argue that damaging the gene pool is a good thing. It may not be PC, but it is true.

wouldn't be just great if we had two extra pairs of arms and hands? you can play chess with one, eat you pizza with second, turn up the music with thrid, and and and.. you will still have one fourth hand free!!
how would you like to be evolved into?
Are we getting more stupid?
Smart people are more likely to be geeks.
Geeks are less attractive to the opposite sex.
Less attractive people have less sex.
The less sex you have the smaller the chance you have of passing on you genes.
Smart genes are dissadvantaged in the gene pool.
Therefore, humanity is getting dumber?
(Science is so much easier when you make sweeping generalisations based on opinions, rather than evidence based on observations!)
<edit>I agree with Squacs:
Evolution has NOT stopped. Just look around you only the fat and the stupid are breeding. This is a natural selection in action... think about it the world is becoming grossly overpopulated.... what better way to control population than by increasing the population of incredibly stupid fat people. This is a built in limit switch for humanity. As soon as we started effectively extending the lives of the weak and the stupid we flipped the switch by keeping them in the gene pool.
Statistically, the more intelligent people are and the more education they have the fewer children they produce. Likewise, those committed to a trade, building a career and providing a high standard of living for their families, can be demonstrated to have fewer children than the typical chronic welfare metaphetamine retard families.
Eventually, maybe not in our life times, the mind numbingly stupid people will reach a critical mass and society will implode. Notice that when one person does something stupid the rest of the morons in the vicinity are sure to join in... a classic downward spiral. You can already see this happening as they make their way into our political arenas. Symptoms include: stupid wars, idiotic economic decisions, moronic social policies, socialized medicine, extreme religious movements, hardline right&left wing politic, etc, etc...
It may be too late, but, we need to severely limit welfare and social assistance to those actually looking for jobs, true burdens on society need to fend for themselves, disruptive kids in school need to be sent for short stays in labor camps to teach them the alternative to getting an education, some sort of social service after highschool should be compulsory (ie. building houses, working on a farm, paving a road, teacing kids to read, anything...), population growth must not exceed our ability to feed, clothe, and educate our people.
Too long have we tolerated the lazy, the slow, the fat and the stupid. We can and must control evolution for the good of future generations. We must make some painful decisions, force people to work when they'd rather sit on their @$$, start moving in a positive direction.

There is far too much generalisation here peeps.. and please don’t get me wrong, when i posted the question "stopped" shouldn’t be taken so literal. Its damn slow.,, that’s all.
I don't believe in Darwin’s theory of Evolution. Your and my ancestors weren't a punch of monkies. In fact, there is a missing link in his theory - look it up guys.
For my part its Adam & Eve who we came from. God - if you believe - created them and you and me, whatever colour, race, fat or thin, blond or dark are from the same origin. We never evolved from lesser species!
But I still agree to many concepts Darwin suggested. Natural selection, survival of the fittest, etc etc do apply. Being dumb or smart ain’t an evolution thing, that’s the genes. Genes can mutate, and thats one hell of a difference from being “evolved”..
Like breading horses.. some bread them to race, some bread them for salami!!!
Originally posted by PeachyEvolution is not necessarily positive in nature, its simply a change from a previous generational step in a biological group's history and I'm telling you that the fact people are getting prgressively more retarded is, in fact, a form of evolution. You are obviously the missing link in the retarded tree.
