Never mind the guitar, how was my beat boxing?!~

I really have no idea what that means.
Is that where you use the guitar as a drum or something?
I ordered an Esteban guitar on Home Shopping Network a year ago and am now using it (still in its guitar case) as a sort of table for papers and magazines in my living room. I don't know, I practiced till I got calluses on my fingers but never memorized any chord progressions well enough to play without constantly looking at the fretboard.

There is no shame in needing to look at the frets now and again, or all the time. Eventually you'll look less and less with more and more play.
Whip that guitar out and play it... I'm on a Yamaha, not big step up from my Esteban I only use when a friend is using my 'good guitar'. The Esteban is well played, holes in the frets, and all frets beyond the 7th sound the same with warpage.

Against my better judgment I'm sharing this song.

Nice gorilla chant on the end, too.
Originally posted by Phlabibitwow, I thought I was the only one with an Esteban. Been playing the hell out of it (and my fingers show it), but I still sound like crap. Maybe I need some real lessons instead of trying to figure everything out myself.

Sounding like crap is MY GIG!~ No lessons... 12 chords perhaps... 50 songs using only 4 or so of them.
Just play and have fun... but it you want lessons go and get some. Mikelom is also a nice fellow for advice, he's trying to teach me some pluck patterns, but I MUST STRUM!~
I'll take a picture of my Esteban... it's all warped, beat up, grooved. I should record a song with it, it has only sentimental value now. Not that it ever had much value at $125 brand new.
