pet names

Koko is in my children's memory. They called him shovel-nosed sugar-hound. I had to pluck maggots out of his back wounds. Not my best memory of that dog, or maybe it is. He was so tolerant, just dealing with it.

He liked to nip heels. It was a game, but only when people were ready.
