For the pie lovers who watch their waist lines ever so closely, an open faced pie of anything is the way to go, along with your favorite low fat, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Homemade ice cream... that's another thing... But if you are traditional pie eaters, by all means, go all out with double pie crust, real whipped cream and real wholeseme ice cream. Nothing like tender, flaky pie crust. mmmm To use lard, vegetable shortening or butter, even vegetable oil for your pie crust.... is a very personal preference. I don't mind using butter or Crisco. Citrus juice and zest keep fruit pies bright and fresh tasting. Happy pie baking!
Why don't people put a pie right there in the window anymore? Are times that bad that people are no longer willing to offer a fresh pie to the next guy who spots it in the window?

Originally posted by duecerLol What to do with crazy mad hungry man? Here, catch! Sliding you a plate of a big slice of Very Berry Pie (not 1 but 4 kinds of berries), with pretty sugar crystal topped crust and a very good helping of real vanilla ice cream. I made this delicious pie early today for beef kabob dinner. Fantastic meal. You want to absolutely savor each bite. Thirsty? Have a glass of home brewed iced tea. After you are done eating pie, you would want to make pies at home, too. Maybe you already have. Or you would bribe someone to make pies for you. Store bought pies just don't taste the same. Special people in our lives deserve special meals, and home baked pies on occasion help create memorable meals. So glad to see you happy and full. 😀
