this morning i was downloading warez (a music software). Once the download finished, pop-ups started opening. Every 2-3 mins there is a pop-up. Most of them are matrimonials...but sometimes either poker-online or www.adult-finder.com opens. 😲 How do i get rid of this problem?? I need help...and urgently too. In a couple of hours time, my uncle will come in and use the comp. Then i am screwed.:'(
Firstly... stop looking at porn, and don't download stuff you aren't confident is 'safe'
Next... update your av software definitions and run a check
Next... download adaware, spysweeper and spybot s&d, then run all of these.
Run them again & again until they find nothing.
Install firefox as your browser.
Good luck...
I would also get a copy of registry repair pro. as I am certain there is going to be a multitude of registry problems.
1 added note. unless you are really comfortable at running the risk of giving out your personal information, and/or losing all of your files because you downloaded a nasty virus, instead of music. take and heed RHB's advice.

Do what Dr RHB says.
Originally posted by gaurav2711Get Spybot and run it and get it to clean up your drive. It's not perfect though and can report one incorrect result that it cannot clean (can't remember the name now, but I'll post it), so also go to zonelabs.com and run their online spyware utility. It won't clean things for you, so you'll have to do it manually. Go to start>run> and type in regedit and enter. Delet the items it reports. Zonelabs also has a reasonable firewall, so download and install it, if your uncle doesn't have a firewall installed. Again, it's not perfect but it's pretty effective at stopping people adding registry items without your permission.
is there no one who knows how to cure this?
Increase the security settings on your browser, and if you haven't ensure you have the latest version if it's IE. But as others have said, get Mozilla Firefox - it really is much more secure.
If you don't have decent AV, go to www.grisoft.com and download and install AVG. All of these are free.
Then, tell your uncle how insecure his system was and that you've fixed it. Tell him you expect something extra in your Christmas stocking.
Originally posted by rhbthanx a lot rhb. Ran spysweeper & spybot.. have been online for abt 10 mins now. The partypoker pop-up still keeps happening. Though, fortunately, the others have not come up again. Hopefully, it'll stay that way.🙂
