I agree with Paulie. The General forum is getting really crowded nowadays.
A religion/philosophy/politics etc. and maybe something like a sports forum would be a great addition to the site (for me in any case π).
Everyone can post wher ...[text shortened]... threads that interest me gets pushed out of action very quickly.

I am not sure where I should poted this at, but I really feel that I should say something! I do not feel that RHP is all about ratings. This is supposed to be a fun place to play. I have enjoyed playing here for over 2 years. π Now it has become all about ratings. π If I challenge a person higher rated, ( RAGNAROK) he feels that he is too good to play me. I like to learn, you get better by playing a higher rated player. I looked at his profile, others gave him a chance. Even if it is a unrated game, this will still help us out. But he (RAGNAROK) and others will not. This does not look to be a way to handle things.π
Please will others give me their thoughts on this!π

Originally posted by CrowleyI agree with you, but your point is not the same as Paulie's. I'm not opposed to the creation of new forums. What I object to is the notion that if one person is not interested in, for example, religious discussions, then everyone who holds these discussions and states their opinions is "preaching at him," "foisting their views on others," and so on and so forth. It's absurd. Until such time that a new forum or new forums are created to accomodate more specific topics, it is silly and unfair to suggest that other paying members of RHP are doing something unacceptable by using the General Forum to discuss topics and express opinions which Paulie, or mmanuel, or anyone else simply doesn't want to read.

As I said, I agree with you and I understand your complaint is not about the "preaching," but about the crowding. New forums would help combat the crowding and would therefore be good.
Yeah huntingbear, maybe I should have been more specific.
You got it right, just posting doesn't mean anyone is forcing their views on someone else.
Just to clear this up, Ivanhoe and pradtf etc. - I'm not saying you guys are posting too much or anything, you're just online more than me and post much more than me.
There are just too many people actively participating in the general forum, meaning that 2 days later when I log in again, the threads that I had the 'thread' of and was participating in are either off the 1st page or has changed direction so much that I don't feel any need to participate in them any more.
Also, because you guys have so many discussions/debates going on that I'm not at all interested in, the general forum is getting boring for me.
I'm sure there are people who agree with me, but they don't even read the general forum anymore.
Ivanhoe, I've read some threads in the 'meet opponents' forum, and frankly that forum is just a glorified chat room with about as much 'real' content as an IRC#Teens chat room. If I wanted to do that I'd download mIRC and go chatting there.
The reason I use the forums on this site is because I believe that the people using it have a bit more savvy and are more interesting than some sweaty guy in his mid-forties pretending to be a 16 year old blonde girl.
Some new forums would just add more to the site in my opinion.

your intent was never in doubt as far as i was concerned but thanks for clarifying anyway (and for your post too huntingbear).
i can see how the volume of threads can get to be hard to sort through and think your idea is a good one.

I don't see what's wrong with the current forum structure. A general based forum is just that, general and nondescript. A forum where some elitist isn't going to moan at you because your post isn't intelligent or doesn't fit in with his or her idea of what the forum is about.
I like seeing 20 new threads a day, I find it interesting to sift through all the posts and find interesting ones. Also, because the forum is general, I find myself reading about topics that i wouldn't usually read and sometimes learning new things.
I like being exposed to the different personalities that you find in such a diverse forum. If the forums were segmented into specific sections, I don't think that i would have 'met' all the interesting people that post here.
So IMHO I don't think that we should break up the general forum.
Originally posted by PaulieHehe I see your point Paulie and the forums are becomeing a bit cluttered. Perhaps we can have a checkbox that ignores certain threads, so you dont have to see the same ones, but that will take time. That way it will be fair to everyone to only have to read a thread once.

I disagree with your "pray-church" example. Forinstance, If I want know about football, I buy the "Sun". I don't want to have some Chelsea fan jabbing away on my doorstep every time I open the door π

EDIT: That was bloody terrible. I think I've lost my sense of humour somewhere along the line. The last time I remember using it was around the 1400 rated mark. Has anyone seen it, please?
