Tosser, you're not at peace are you? You don't visit this thread with an air of tranquility, something's bugging you...have I made a mistake in the scoring? Spit it out dear boy 🙂

I'll do a recount if desired!

Forgive my flippance! I know my maths is a bit rusty and the big 30 is just days away, but me thinks you have only awarded 1 point for each and not 3! Anyway, i'll just crawl back into my black hole and let you get on with you good work......😕

Tosser, listen up fella. In your case, you have 9 points. 3 points due to your spot on prediction relating to the Man City, Blackburn match and 6 partial points relating to 6 other games where you got the right winner/draw.

If you think you have made more than 1 spot on prediction and you have points which have not been allocated to you in the table inform me of this at the very soonest instance.

In the scores for whoever is in position 1 I have written it out in full, eg 3 spot on points and 6 partial points. I did this to avoid confusion that may arise if I simply wrote 9 points, 3 spot on, 6 partial all the way through - as this may suggest 3 spot on predictions and 6 partial predictions. Although I only wrote it out in full for the first line, it applies to the rest of the positions - for the sake of brevity I didn't write it all out for the other positions, thinking I had sufficiently well explained matters. Shout if you're still not happy!

And next week folks, T1000 details exactly how he goes about boiling an egg 😉

Forgive my flippance, my mind has been clouded by a fog of uncertainty! Im not one for excuses, but being kept up all night by 3 month old twins and trying to hold down a full time job does not help ones concentration. Keep up the good work and i'll just crawl back in to my hole and be quiet! ...........😞

WARNING WARNING - THREAD-JACKING IMMINENT - WARNING WARNING

A slight side-competition relating to one of the most vicious derby this side of River Plate vs Boca Juniors [Old firm, Old Schmirm] - if anyone can guess the score of the Millwall Scum vs the Mighty Crystal Palace, along with the correct number of Hospitalisations I will donate them allof my points gained so far. My Prediction: 0-3 with a hat-trick from Sir Dougie Freedman, with 28 Scum fans hospitalised and 19 Palace fans making the trip!

Now I did say all predictions in by 12.30pm. That was to accommodate the Merseyside derby kicking off at that time. Just realised that I haven't made any predictions this week. Despite being past the deadline I'll predict anyway, but will leave out said derby. If anyone really disagrees my entry, well, tough.

Saturday, August 30th
Aston Villa 1-1 Leicester City
Bolton Wanderers 2-0 Charlton Athletic
Chelsea 1-0 Blackburn Rovers
Everton POST WAS TOO LATE Liverpool
Middlesbrough 0-0 Leeds United
Newcastle United 2-0 Birmingham City
Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Fulham
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-1 Portsmouth

Sunday, August 31st
Manchester City 1-2 Arsenal
Southampton 0-1 Manchester United

How can you think about a match like that when the label clash of the day surely resides with Exeter City vs Farnborough Town. Not a local derby, no history between the clubs, not even a league football match.

And out of nowhere m'lady has said she wants to come(!). Maaarvellous.

Oh go on then. 2-1 to Palace.

The truth, as we all know, is that Barnet's game against Halifax is the most exciting and important global football fixture of this weekend. Sorry for stating the obvious though, I don't pretend that you didn't all know that before.

The final whistle at Man. City's new stadium resulted in Arsenal moving three points clear at the top of the Premiership, and, of slightly less import, the end of this week's games. Quite a few games going against the form book too!

The following is the table for this week:-

1. Hentschel.........6 points (3 spot on points, 3 partial points)
=2. seanpbutler....5 points (3 spot on, 2 partial)
=2. Tosser............5 points (3 spot on, 2 partial)
4. schweigi............4 points (0 spot on, 4 partial)
5. T1000..............3 points (3 spot on, 0 partial)
=6. Chapmonkey...2 points (0 spot on, 2 partial)
=6. CFC................2 points (0 spot on, 2 partial)
=6. jimroebuck......2 points (0 spot on, 2 partial)
9. mmanuel..........1 point (0 spot on, 1 partial)

Congratulations go to Hentschel, mocking giggles to mmanuel 😉 That capped off a rather good weekend for Hentschel I suspect, at least on the football front, with Barnet demolishing Halifax 4-1. mmanuel has the consolation(?) of Crystal Palace drawing 1-1 away to Millwall.

Special shout out to seanpbutler, a promising début with the excellent prediction of Southampton to defeat Manchester United 1-0. Good call Sir!

As for the cumulative table, here's how we're looking:-

1. T1000..............17 points (6 spot on points, 11 partial points)
2. Tosser.............16 points (6 spot on, 10 partial)
3. Hentschel.........15 points (3 spot on, 12 partial)
4. schweigi...........14 points (6 spot on, 8 partial)
5. Chapmonkey....13 points (3 spot on, 10 partial)
6. jimroebuck.......12 points (0 spot on, 12 partial)
=7. Zaps..............10 points (6 spot on, 4 points)
=7. mmanuel........10 points (3 spot on, 7 points)
9. villa68..............6 points (0 spot on, 6 partial)
10. seanpbutler.....5 points (3 spot on, 2 partial)
11. CFC................2 points (0 spot on, 2 partial)

T1000 there living off the back of his 1st week performance holds top spot. Tosser moves up to second. Possible dark horse could be jimroebuck. No spot on predictions but 12 partial. Surely only a matter of time before he lands his prediction rocket on planet spot on.

Not sure what games are on next week. Next weekend is an international fixtures one. I may well select a few choice matches and go with those.

T1000 mate you should have an additional point. You predicted the Wolves Pompey game to end 1-1, a partial point for you. Just trying to be fair 🙂

P.S. T1000 forget teaching us how to boil an egg. Tell me how best to fry one. I assume you use butter but do you also know of the trick of putting water underneath to stop it sticking to the pan when you want to serve it? Possible thread, easy cooking for useless men? I actually consider myself quite capable in the kitchen but knowing some friends of mine, I'm sure others could use some advise. Isn't dyl a cook, sorry, I mean a chef? 😀

i think i'm going to give up this prediction stuff and just keep my mouth shut in future... then again it would be hard to put in a worse performance - but i'm sure i can achieve it

Mark

Sacre bleu! Hentschel, tu as raision! Eh bien, un point d'extra pour le T1000.

Given that a certain knowledge/arrogance is required to think that one can correctly predict the results of Premiership football matches, I suspect that most will feel as comfortable doing so for internationals. Hence, as mmanuel suggests, there will indeed be a European Championships 2004 Qualifying special. Ooooh I hear you gasp. And who knows, given the multi-country flavour of this week's effort perhaps we'll get a few new faces entering.

As far as scoring goes, same rules, 3 for a spot on, 1 for a partial. I shall probably include the scores from this in the cumulative table, and may even go as far as keeping a separate internationals league running if there is a sizeable number (more than 5) who prefer to just predict internationals (the league would include everyone).

Here are the fixtures for next week. All entries in by 3pm Saturday.

Saturday, September 6th
France vs Cyprus
Slovenia vs Israel
Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Norway
Romania vs Luxembourg
Netherlands vs Austria
Belarus vs Czech Republic
Latvia vs Poland
Sweden vs San Marino
Scotland vs Faroe Islands (anyone who has the Scots to lose risks incurring my wrath)
Iceland vs Germany
Armenia vs Greece
Ukraine vs Northern Ireland
Liechtenstein vs Turkey
F.Y.R. Macedonia vs England (Gerrard and Scholes missing)
Bulgaria vs Estonia
Andorra vs Croatia
Italy vs Wales (fingers crossed for the men in red)
Azerbaijan vs Finland
Republic of Ireland vs Russia
Georgia vs Albania

Wednesday, September 10th
Israel vs Malta
Slovenia vs France
Luxembourg vs Bosnia-Herzegovina
Denmark vs Romania
Czech Republic vs Netherlands
Moldova vs Belarus
Poland vs Sweden
Latvia vs Hungary
Germany vs Scotland
Faroe Islands vs Lithuania
Northern Ireland vs Armenia
Spain vs Ukraine
England vs Liechtenstein
Slovakia vs F.Y.R. Macedonia
Belgium vs Croatia
Andorra vs Bulgaria
Wales vs Finland
Serbia and Montenegro vs Italy
Russia vs Switzerland
Albania vs Georgia

So there it is. Get your chops around that and good luck 🙂
