Presdential mistakes

What would rate as the biggest mistake made by any leader of a country or big organisation?

Emperor Constantine adopting a cult as the primary religion of the Roman Empire rates pretty highly I think.

when the German Kaiser ordered 50,000 battle helmets with the spikes on the inside!
