If he is playing within the rules, why do you care? I agree that even if this is a site with real people, the real world should always be the priority, not a site. Even if you do have to wait, who cares? It wont make any difference in life. If you had to do something important for work, or anything else, would you tell your boss you cant do it because you have to keep up with your redhotpawn games?

Originally posted by rlchapmanI forgive you for taking the opportunity to get a WHOPPING fat rating, it's what drives us all on (to a lesser and greater degree, high-scores matter to everyone!) I'd probably do the same. It is slightly annoying for your remaining opponents though. If they are winning, they now get little reward, if they're losing, they now lose more points than is fair. You are way stronger than 1500!! This is only Internet chess, if i lose 25 points to you in our game, i don't really give to much of damn, though i'd feel more warmly toward someone who gave their best (personal circumstances away from the board to one side) than someone who was so obviously blazay about their opponents who sometimes put a lot of effort into giving you a good game....
do i care more about the kids i work with than with my online chess games? um, yes. as would any sane person. you seem to be one of those few people who think that what happens on redhotpawn actually has something to do with the real world. the rest of us realize that this is unimportant compared to real world problems and issues. also, what difference ...[text shortened]... oing to be donating time or money to it anyway since your online chess games are sooo important.
My 2 cents...

Originally posted by Very RustyI'm sure this isn't the first time in his life that rlchapman has acted this way, and I'm sure he's been chastised before, too, but he's old enough now that if he's still acting this way it is because he wants to, not because he doesn't know any better, so protests are pointless, I suppose.

Very Rusty, I think you're right. Although I can't carry as demanding a game/move load as you do, it is up to me to find a way to move past rlchapman's disregard for others on this site, because if it isn't rlchapman personally, there will be others in the future. Thank you for your input, and good luck on achieving MAP for January. Can you hold off Indosmart for a second month in a row? We'll see! 🙂
WoW!! I seriously dont get it! Stalling? I simply dont understand how one can stall? There are time limits, if someone has 72 hours to make a move then, they have 72 hours to make a move. If they want to take 69.9 hrs. to make their move then, maybe they need 69.9 hrs. to make their move. Maybe they are not as good as you and, they need more time? Maybe they are struggling with a plan and, they need all that time to figure one out?
Playing on in a lost position?? Well, just because you think it is lost doesnt mean they do. Maybe you are stronger then them & you know it is a lost position while they seriously think they have a chance to draw. Maybe they are stronger than you and, they know they have drawing chances while you think it is a sure win. Most 1100-1200 rated players I play against play on in lost positions but, it is only because they do not have the knowledge yet to know that it is lost NOT because they are trying to draw the game out. Besides, even if a player KNOWS he is in a lost position;
1) Maybe he knows he is going to lose so, he wants to practice his defending tough positions skill. I mean, how else can you get that kind of practice in except for in a lost position??
2) Maybe he Loves Chess soooo much, he just hates the thought of resigning until closer to the end?
3) He has a last swindle coming up that he wants to try before he resigns.
4) There just is NO rule saying a player MUST resign if he is in a lost position.
Let me tell you a story...
I was playing an average player once (1700-1800 I think) in OTB. An endgame quickly came up & I offered a draw. My opponent literally laughed & made what he thought was his game winning move, a pawn promotion into a Queen while my pawn was still 2 steps away from promoting. Turns out, he did not know that certain Q vs. P endgames are drawn!! Imagine his embaressment when he realized the position is a dead draw!! So, should he have chastised me wondering why I'm playing on in what he THOUGHT was a lost position when it turns out he was actually playing on in a drawn position??
Truth is, I dont know the exact circumstances of all this but, I've heard this "he should resign, why's he playing on" whinning many times before. It's all the same, just play your games. If your winning, your win will come. Enjoy the fact that your opponent is playing on, show him that there is nothing he can do to prevent the loss. From his side, he is saying show me you know how to win this position? So, show him, what are some people afraid of?? Making a blunder in a won position??
Please no hate mail 🙂

652 games in progress 😲
Man, his rating is going to tank when his his vacation flag goes down.
Now i think i can see what the complaint is.
If you timeout 300 games (a conservative estimate), then play out and win a few, your poor opponent could stand to lose 100 ratings points. To say the rating means nothing to you is fine, but if you're going to let it drop so low - let's face it, unless you're going to move like mad before your vacation flag goes down (which is highly unlikely, considering your attitude) - you're going to affect the rating of whoever you decide to continue playing.
If you do drop so low, maybe you should consider resigning the ones that are left .
