Footprints in the desert is the one to get from his solo albums.
He has an autobiography and new album out on the 4th of October.
doesnt say much about his departure from the Stranglers...guess we'll have to wait for the book and i'll certainly check out his solo songs ..do the concerts lose anything without him? ....

whilst checking out this sight ..i had a quick look at Anti nowhere leagues site..some pictures from old concerts brings it back! i thought the lead singer(Animal) had given it up and was living quietly in kent .

Victoria B.C.s NoMeansNo are my favourite - live and recorded. They are the tightest trio you have ever heard or seen, bottom line.

I saw the Buzzcocks many years ago. I actually got a chance to hang out with Steve Diggle (SP), long story, my girlfriend at the time, her flat mate dated him for a bit. So we were allowed into the rock and roll lifestyle, even though it was briefly. I did get to meet Roland Gift, which was cool.

Anyway another great underground punk band is Flogging Molly, they are pretty big on the Vans warp tour in the States. They aren't your normal teen new punk shite. The lead singer is about 50, and all the sing about is drinking guinness, fighting and shagging. What more is there to life.

I saw Public Image Limited (PIL) with John Lydon (the former Johnny Rotten) once. Does that count?

i suppose you could say that David Bowie was the real Godfather, as he wrote Iggy's songs.

I'd say Lou Reed or Janis Joplin were the God parents of punk.

I disagree, as Bowie has indeed collaborated with Mr. Osterberg over the years but he is far from 'writing' Iggy's songs.

ok ive just had a quick look at Iggy's biography on aol music (as you would appear to have done aswell) and agree with what youre saying...but Bowies influence along with the songs he did write/produce for Iggy certainly helped

LOL I didn't have to look up Iggy's biography, I grew up listening to his music. And what artist is not influenced in some way by others? Not to be contrary but Iggy has always been very much his own man when it comes to his artistic merits.

Best Punk Rock band ever. The Stooges. What's punk about - alienation and anger. The Stooges first album is the first and still the best punk rock album ever made. Brilliant lyrics - "No fun to be alone, walking by myself. No fun to hang around, in love, with nobody else," brilliant guitar work, and IGGY!!!
Iggy still puts on a fuckin great show - saw the Stooges at Randall's Island with the NY Dolls. How's that for bringing back the memories.
Honorable mention to the Velvets (too intellectual to really qualify for punk), Clash (saw them twice including at the famous Bonds and Shea stadium shows), Pistols, Ramones, Dead Boys, Joy Division, Sonic Youth and others. Amazing thing is is that Iggy is still the best but still cannot sell out a show.
