In my opinion, it was the height of rudeness for him to ask Steve Largent if he could wear number 80. You just don't ask for a number that the team has retired, no matter what kind of career you've had. Steve Largent said it was okay, I suspect, only because he doesn't want to come off as the bad guy here.

And aren't most of the records Rice broke Largents? Appropriate I thought. A sign of respect shown by both guys.

I still do not like it. Remember when Magic Johnson came otu of retirement in 1996? Suppose he had wanted to play for the Celtics. Do you think he would have the nerve to ask Larry Bird if he could use Bird's #33? I would certainly hope not. I know Boston fans would never let him hear the end of it if he did that. What is the general feeling about Rice in Seattle right now?
