Maybe I'm mistaken, but I didn't think it was even possible to install .Net on Windows 98.
But a bit of advice, move away from '98 now. It is old and stinky. 🙄

I'm in the process of re-installing .net and everything now, so I'll let you know shortly.
What are you recommending as a replacement for 98se? Is XP the way to go?

I have a machine running XP Pro and it is very stable. But! The first thing you need to do is download and install the latest security patches and fixes and updates. I didn't, and it took a week to root out all the worms and viruses! It was like a bad dream.

I just downloaded and installed microsoft .net framework version 1.1, but haven't been able to get the rhplive.exe program to run.
After installing it, and rebooting, when I click on rhplive.exe it tells me the application has generated an exception that could not be handled, then gives a process and thread id number.
I can't get past that point.

I had this working before, when Russ first had it on the site. I'll poke around with it some more, as I'm probably just doing something stupid.

You are ok, i think. The fact that it worked with the "pre .Net" DLL files tells me that Russ was right. It won't work with 98 because he compiled USING THOSE LIBERARIES. If anyone running 98 gets it to work...Please tell us. Thanks. I'll bet it is a matter of running XP or newer.
So you're saying the .net framework I installed a year ago would work on 98, but the one I just downloaded today will not? That's a bummer. Guess I should have just kept the older files installed.
I deleted all of it a year ago when we were having problems and the rhplive program went into dormant mode. Whatever I had then worked but the problems were with the rhplive application, I think.
The new .net says it's installed, but I'm not aware of any way to test it and see if it's actually working, other than by running rhplive.exe

I doubt your old dll files would work with Russ's new compile. He used the "new stuff". You mighthave/stillBeAbleTo ? run the "Old" code, but it is not related to russ's new stuff. What you would see would not be new stuff. Depending if he deleted the "old' stuff or left it in the folder in question. All in all, you are probably better off to buy XP and upgrade. Bummer.

If it worked then, it should work now - unless MS have dropped .Net support for 98.
I will have a surf around tomorrow and try to discover what the problem is.

Marc, you should remember, we played a game on it using win98!!!
I also have it working on Win2000 Pro laptop and a new XP machine.
I am still not getting connected very often, as there are seldom any hosts waiting. I guess we need to get more of the members lined up with this.
