Actually there are tours from New England. Above is some info for you. I would probably fly, but tours are good if you want to see some of the country.

There is a cruise ship that goes between New York City and Nova Scotia. I believe there is one from Boston as well.

They use to have the CAT that went to the Southern tip of Nova Scotia, (Yarmouth) but they stopped the funding for it, said it was losing money. Some friends from Boston use to use it when they drove down.
