When I was younger t.v. looked like so much fun and i felt I could learn some things from it. Now it's all about sex, and curse. Which isn't bad when those things are there to accomplish a real goal besides ratings.

As a kid Saturday morning TV…The Howdy Doody Show was tops. I also liked Rootie Kazootie. In those days cowboys like Roy Rogers (King of the Cowboys), Gene Autry (The Singing Cowboy) and the Lone Ranger were staples. Later TV was ruled by westerns (sort of like sitcoms nowadays): Gunsmoke, Have Gun-Will Travel, The Virginian, The Rifleman, Bonanza, Wagon Train (where Clint Eastwood got started) and a host of others. Later I liked Dallas and Columbo. I got a set of Columbo DVD’s for Christmas. When I watched them they were a disappointment…too simplistic and kind of corny.
Edit: I forgot an early scifi...Captain Video and his Video Rangers.
mascat brought back some oldies...recently the local station started showing old shows from the 50's, Bat Masterson and The Rifleman. In my memory, I equated the two as being similar, and I was shocked at the difference through the eyes of a 50 year old. The Rifleman's first few episodes were written and directed by Sam Peckinpah!!!, and the show retained an edgy, dangerous feel to it thereafter, whereas Bat Masterson is almost cartoonlike and corny.
