Clinton may have been purchased at age 11, but Bush was birthed into this stuff, by a family who's political legacy of crony capitalism goes bavk 4 generations. Anyway, where can i find out this info about clinton? it sounds interesting.

Off topic I know - but where are the woman?

How come you have eight in the race and they are all men? Is that causing any comment?

How long before you have a First Gentleman in the White House?

There was a woman running. Carolyn Mosely Brown, but she dropped out of the race.

See that is the way liberals are, Mark. They make it sound like they aren't conscious of a person's color and there is a classic Freudian (a Freethinker I might add) slip. I would expect as much from George Wallace, the segregationist. Even I , a southerner, knew it was Braun. 😉

What about Werner von Braun? And surely you can give Braun's constant to 38 decimal places...😉?

OK, that's very interesting, thanks.

As for Blair, well you're right, some of what he's done has certainly not been right wing. More money for schools and hospitals, a fairer system of taxation for lower earners, investment in training for the unemployed - all great.

But much of what he's done recently I've been far less happy with. I'm afraid I don't get your argument about taxation for universities. Why does it make any difference to the economy whether the money comes from the pockets of high earners or recent graduates? They're both taxes - it's just that one's progressive, the other taxes you equally whether you become a social worker, a teacher, a lawyer or a captain of industry.

Then there's the horribly elitist foundation hospitals and, worse, the proliferation of specialist and religious schools. There's the part privatisation of the tube, despite the utter disaster of rail privatisation. There's the erosion of civil liberties through our extreme anti-terrorism legislation and our equally horrific anti-asylum policy. And of course there's the war in Iraq.

On every single one of these points, Blair was at odds with a great many in his party - probably the majority, even only they'd had the courage to oppose him. That's why I say he's been (and it's all relative I realise) right wing.

Rich.
