As a matter of fact my pipe really is the Bilbo pipe from LOTR I and its it a beutiful token of real craftmenship with the right wood (bruyere what else ?) and I am a hughe fan of LOTR.
No but I dont see myself as a hobbit.
I smoke pipe since I was 17. Now 25 and love to sit with my best pal (he ownes a house) benear the oven, just listen to Bach and the sound of cracking, burning wood. Drink a good whiskey (never less than 12 years old) and enjoy a good and relaxed game of chess.
Make your move, smoke your pipe, lay back, think, think, think, make your move. I love it ! We do this every Friday evening (or whole night) until we or too drunken to move (damn it its your turn or my ?) any pawns. In between we go for a walk with the dog (his house is just 3 minutes away by foot from the dyke and the river Elbe.
Its totally quiet out there and nearly totally dark, so you can watch the stars, too. That is my weekly holiday.

Northern part of Germany just a few kilometres away from Hamburg city. A special landscape dominated by its near to the huge river Elbe. Originally dominated by fishermen who worked there. Really nice landscape, very flat.
Benear the dyke there is a special secret passage we go through in summer and come to something like a small island with a real beack (no not pulling your leg). We call this little Hawaii. We go there with beer, food and of course our game of chess. Its awful ! Really is.
