A joke is a joke. Everyone is a butt of a joke at some time or another.

There was a documentary on Bernard Manning aired a few months back. Throughout it he keeps claiming that it's just a joke, that he is expressing the humour that working men find funny and share with each other.

However, Manning and his friends are filmed reading the papers and they are talking about immigrants not in a funny way. They are coming with stuff like "paki this" and "paki that" and it's clear that their views are somewhere right of the BNP.
