My wife (from Massachussetts, where we live now) calls them elastics. Being from Virginia, I alway called them rubber bands. This is a fun little argument we have whenever someone needs one of these dang things!

"Rubber bands" where I grew up. And "Worshington," not "Washington." Oh, and "grease" rhymes with "peace," not with "peas."

Many people in the Pittsburgh area call them 'Gum Bands.'

If you don't believe me, see this official Pittsburgh dictionary:

Hahaha... a lot of interesting and funny answers! All I can say is that in Michigan, USA, we only know them as rubber bands. <sigh>

I hope Germans don't get confused easily 😕.

Ouch.

Generally rubber bands in Maine, although elastics are common enough.

Ha!
Thanks everyone! Keep em coming if you can. Being that I live in Pennsylvania, and was born and bred in Massachusetts (Go RedSox), we get into this kind of thing a lot.

Another favorite of mine - That thing? Under the house? I call it a cellar and folks here call it a basement.
