My wife (from Massachussetts, where we live now) calls them elastics. Being from Virginia, I alway called them rubber bands. This is a fun little argument we have whenever someone needs one of these dang things!
"Rubber bands" where I grew up. And "Worshington," not "Washington." Oh, and "grease" rhymes with "peace," not with "peas."
