If you like, university; do tell me though, what is a UNI?
edit: i figured you were going to be in a facility of higher education just wondering if you were mentioning a specific one... you said, "im going to uni at the end of september" not a uni.

edit: I think I could have similarly said I'm going to school at the end of september, and it would have made just as much sense, and I still wouldn't have been referring to any uni/school specifically.

Originally posted by tomtom232Of course we say here, 'going to university', ignoring the 'a', as previously mentioned, we also don't say college when we mean university, like you Americans tend to do, I don't really get that.

Oh well, I guess it's just a regional language thing.
Originally posted by NordlysSo back when you were a child, and your mum told you to go to school, did she tell you to go to school, or did she tell you to go to a school (not saying which particular school), or did she give you the specific name of the school that you should go to? If she didn't say any of this, consider this me trying to ask what you'd say normally. 🙄

Originally posted by Bad wolfI was only joking. "Going to school" or "going to uni" sounds totally normal to me.
Oh. 😕
Sorry, wasn't thinking.
Well anyway, so if I said i was going to school, you'd think Southern Cotswolds Home Of Origami Learners, well what would say, if speaking English, instead, in my place?
