Seafarers is a great game, but Cities and knights is just superior in every way!! Seafarers is won or lost by the numbers you happen have, cities and knights has a billion more ways to win or looses, which takes a heap of the 'random luck' out of the game. ๐
Settlers is my favorite game ever. I love that game, my friends and I play almost weekly in the summer. As for Risk, I like it, went for 6 months undefeated last year, with regular games, but I just isn't as fun. Axis and Allies is interesting, but personally my least favorite of the three. The Katan games ought to be sold in more stores. One of my friends had it, the rest of us had to buy it online. And I agree that over the board is the only way to play strategy games other than chess. In summary: I love Settlers of Katan.
Originally posted by marinakatombYeah, I've played it. It's ok, but I don't like it all that much. I don't know why. Maybe because it doesn't have combat...I'm not sure. It just never grabbed hold of me. I know plenty of people who LOVE it though. I used to live in the same house as a girl who won some kind of Settlers tournament. She was really good.
Anyone played this AWESOME (!!!) game? I've been playing this a lot recently with a couple of my clan mates. Cities and Knights expansion makes for a seriously stressfull evening!! ๐
Risk is ok, but too simple for me. I like Axis and Allies quite a bit though if I play it for too long in any period of time it gets old for a while.
Originally posted by rwingettI have played seafarers cities and knights but the added water means that at least 1, if not 2 people have one settlement adjoined to only two resources as oppossed to three. Great if you go first but ultimately flawed...

1. When your armies die they go to the underworld where they can be reserected back onto the board!
2. You can summon Gods to fight in your battles which give's you certain advantages.
3. By appeasing the Gods you get bonus cards to use in battle (very useful one's as well!)
4. After each epoch (or rather, once everyone has had a turn), you can bid for turn order. Highest bidder goes first, so, if you are last to go (which is a big disadvantage), you can take a continent and then bid to go first, which allows you to get your continent bonus rather than you loosing it b4 it's your turn again.
There are a zillion other reasons why it's better but you should geet the general idea ๐
