Hi Skeeter,
I have a question for you:
I noticed you timed out seadevil 3 times, all 3 games were in 7 day timeout-games.
Seadevil's profile states I am on holiday with my family until 27th April, as does his vacation setting. I assume he noticed you about his vacation in your games as well (as he did in my games).
Furthermore I noticed in our games you only move when your time is almost gone and I hear you do that against other players as well. I assume you had the same strategy against seadevil.
Seadevil went on holiday the 18th of april, you timed him out on the 25th, just over 7 days later.
To me it looks like, though I can be wrong of course, that as soon you knew seadevil went on holiday you immediately moved in your games against him thus creating the possibility of timing him out a week later, which in fact you did.
I looked at the three games: one was lost for you, the other two were about equal.
Questions:
-Do you want to comment on this?
-If so, am I correct in the facts as I described it?
-If so, can you tell me about your motives for acting like you did?

While I know none of you from adam, the answer may be obvious: all the games were in tournaments, where timeouts are the rule, irrespective of the vacation flag.
There are simply too many people that will be slowed down if you fail to meet your agreed time-per-move when playing in tournaments.
I've fallen foul of this before (to a nice player name of torokc if I recall aright): I'm not bitter, its just the rules and I wished him well.
Originally posted by ToeAutomatic time-outs by the system happen only when someone doesn't move in an extra 2 days (only for tournament-games), for instance when the time-out is 7 days then the system times you out after 9 days of non-moving.

you make it sound as though skeeter will do anything to win....
this reminds me of myself occasionally in live games (not that i can play like skeeter - she knows those "onpassont" rules and all that stuff), even against much weaker opponents i will sometimes catch myself playing all sorts of unfair tricks to make sure of the win.
i think i learnt these tricks when playing for (small amounts of) money.
these tricks include:
talking casually during both my move and theirs as though it doesnt matter,
adjourning the game and analysing in my head while we are doing something else together - especially if their move is forced,
playing very fast on easy moves until they play fast at the wrong time,
get them to play at a move rate they are uncomfortable with (faster or slower),
introduce alcohol,
get their friends to help them,
and anything else i could find .......
i think i never do this against stronger players - i try to get them to play their best possible chess to slaughter me as powerfully as possible. - i think, but then i may be wrong.
(p.s. i will time out almost anyone anytime, vacation or not, but i always prefer very high timebank and never use a second of it myself)

Otto, you are so right... Skeeter takes time-outs as soon as they become available, vacation setting on or not and yes, she'll do anything to win...
She takes as long as she can with her moves, just waiting for someone to go on vacation and claims the wins. She has been dragging on our 2 3 day T/O and no T/B games scince the end of October... she has even announced that she *will* take the time-outs, even when my holliday sign will be on...
She as well refuses to accept draws and losses, even when they are very clear.
One more thing, I'm pretty sure my games with here will end arround the 7th of May, scince I'll be on holiday then.
Olav
p.s. For people that play against her and would like to end the game a.s.a.p.: Put your vacation sign on, she'll move instantly, just waiting to time you out, a.s.a.p. as well... ðŸ˜
Originally posted by LivingLegendyou could be trixy and put your setting on, then move when she moves etc...r is that what u meant? 😛

Although not being involved in this matter and haven't had the chance to play our first lady yet, your arguments sound pretty waterproof to me. If I ever will play her, I make sure not to book holidays for the following 2 years 😉
