First time ? If so , there are many helpful parenting tips in the various "duct tape threads" . Well , not exactly parenting tips , but read them and extrapolate , you'll get the drift quickly enough .

See, many great men have lived on this planet and died. Who remembers them, eh? Maybe a few historians wrote something about them <sigh>. BUT! Once you manage to produce YOUR offspring, guess what!? Part of you lives FOREVER!!!!
Yeah, that's why childbirth is SO COOL! Cause the child carries part of you into the future, again and again.
It's really the only way a human can live forever dude. 🙂
