It became an actual ban, effective, enforceable, and punishable from next week...

Is it a total ban, pubs included, or just a demand for separate areas?

Well as I live outside the country for 11 months a year I can hardly claim to be frontline in all this, however:

I have nothing against smoking as such, I don't really like the idea in principle of a total ban, maybe some places should be entitled to apply for licences to allow smoking.

But for me, a bronchitis sufferer caused and provoked by an allergy to cigarette smoke, it means that finally I can go out without paying a price for it.

So, all in all, good news.

hahahahahahaha That get's me laughing everytime it is mentioned. A smoking ban on smoking shelters!!! FFS who are they trying to save from passive smoking? At my workplace they have a fully functional smoking pavillion which lies unused due to the smoking ban.

The risk from passive smoking is overstated, yes, lots of people have it in for smokers, it's a very handy scapegoat, tobacco.

Meanwhile, as millions of smokers head for the street, just as many people will contract cancer from so-called innocent sources, microwave food, food additives, sun creams, mercury amalgam, environmental toxins etc.

But it's OK guys, it's all the fault of fags.

However, as my previous post makes clear, this ban is very good for me, looking at it selfishly. I'm a happy camper now.

But for it to be worthwhile it would have to be difficult to get a licence, i.e. you need a reason. Otherwise everywhere would apply for one.

In Italy most cafes have seating out back where people can smoke. It works. If it can work there it should be OK in England.

Anyway, this is all forum talk now, what difference does it make?

Bye for now

I gave up smoking years ago but I actually like the smell of smoke.

The most stupid part of this law is whereby people in their works cars/vans cannot [legally] smoke in them even when alone. Unbelievable!!!!! 🙄

what are you guys going do with the 120 000 suicidal idiots, who from now on won't be weeded out from the uk population every year?

there's gonna be a huge shortcoming of people not slowly and painfully suffocating to death, wheezing and coughing like a broken accordion full of bloody puss. a very small accordion, because 80% of it's rotting flesh has been cut out.
