@rajk999 saidEven the non-Paying Subscribers are contributing as they have the advertisements to deal with that we don't get to see. So money is coming in from that. We have enough rules and Moderators in my opinion. Well we don't know how many Moderators there are do we?
Basically what is happening is the ones who can afford to pay are subsidizing the ones who cannot. And this is a good thing. So let them play and chat. If some people dont like how they chat there may be other ways to deal with that, like more rules and more moderators.

@ogb saidYou have to admit, that since Day One here, the forums have been a bellweather of the personality of the entire site. Now I realize that only a small minority of people here speak up on the forums, but it is what the public sees. Those who do speak up have a profoundly bigger voice and presence than others who do not speak up.
read the OP..did I say I didn't like the forums ??
If EVERYONE on RHP stopped having games and only went to the forums, Russ could change the name to Red Hot Forums.....
This is why MORE should speak up, NOT fewer.
@moonbus saidNow that would be AWEsome!
The primary reason for RHP's existence is for Russ to make money. I reckon he figures that the chess features and the forums are a lucrative combination, and more so if participation in the one is not a precondition of the other.
If he wants to add red hot taco home delivery and psychological counselling as new services, that's his call.

@very-rusty saidRuss is always right. Start there, and you can't go wrong.
This is true, and doing a mixture of both is good business. I got a lifetime membership on another site back about a decade ago when they celebrated their 10 anniversary. What they were asking for the one I got which is the top one, where you can be Captain of a team or a co-captain, it was a good investment even when you take into consideration the difference in the Amer ...[text shortened]... though, as I've paid less than half what I would have paid, paying yearly on the other site.

@suzianne saidI concur a big thumbs up on that one!

We have to ensure our voices don't drown them out though, including me!

@earl-of-trumps saidThe inducements are access to more features and no ads.
I should think that there be some kind of inducement to get people to subscribe.
Let's say they are limited to 6 posts per week and only in the general forum.

@rajk999 saidPutting up with nuisance chatter is price we all pay to have open forums.

@moonbus saidYes indeed. A man says something blatantly stupid, just ignore it. I get ignored all the time. Interestingly I just pulled up all the players from Nigeria, 21 pages of names x 25. thats around 500 people. NONE are subscribers. This is a poor country $40 US is a lot of money there and I bet that can feed a family of 4 for about a month. So I say allow the poor to participate, without looking down on them in any way. They should feel welcome.

@rajk999 saidAre you really that bright?
Yes indeed. A man says something blatantly stupid, just ignore it. I get ignored all the time.
If you were you probably wouldn't be in this forum! π
Ahhhhh....I see the catch here you get ignored all the time.........boo-hoo.....I borrowed that from Suzie Q! π
