@fmf saidThat's a great song! I've never heard it or of the group before.
This song, almost inexplicably, brings a tear to my eye every time I listen to it. It's almost as if I was hypnotised at some point and this song was set as a trigger. Maybe it's got something to do with having lived in different places around the world and therefore having shed a series of environments and their occupants as I moved on each time.
[youtube Song About Travellin ...[text shortened]... le in the cities you'll never know,
it is everything you pass by,
wondering, will you ever return?
At first I thought that it was Bjork of the Sugar Cubes singing.
Very pleasant. 🙂
Heute treff' ich einen Herrn
Der hat mich zum Fressen gern
Weiche Teile und auch harte
Stehen auf der Speisekarte
Denn du bist, was du isst
Und ihr wisst, was es ist
Es ist mein Teil (nein)
Mein Teil (nein)
Da, das ist mein Teil (nein)
Mein Teil (nein)
Denn du bist, was du isst
Und ihr wisst, was es ist
Es ist mein Teil (nein)
Mein Teil (nein)
Da, das ist mein Teil (nein)
Yes, it's mein Teil (nein)
Ein Schrei wird zum Himmel fahren
Schneidet sich durch Engelsscharen
Vom Wolkendach fällt Federfleisch
Auf meine Kindheit mit Gekreisch
Es ist mein Teil (nein)
Mein Teil (nein)
Da, das ist mein Teil (nein)
Mein Teil (nein)
Es ist mein Teil (nein)
Mein Teil (nein)
Da, das ist mein Teil (nein)
Yes it's mein Teil (nein)
Operator, number, please: it's been so many years
Will she remember my old voice while I fight the tears?
Hello, hello there, is this Martha? this is old Tom Frost,
And I am calling long distance, don't worry 'bout the cost.
'Cause it's been forty years or more, now Martha please recall,
Meet me out for coffee, where we'll talk about it all.
And those were the days of roses, poetry and prose
And Martha all I had was you and all you had was me.
There was no tomorrows, we'd packed away our sorrows
And we saved them for a rainy day.
And I feel so much older now, and you're much older too,
How's your husband? and how's the kids? you know that I got married too?
Luck that you found someone to make you feel secure,
'Cause we were all so young and foolish, now we are mature.
And those were the days of roses, poetry and prose
And Martha all I had was you and all you had was me.
There was no tomorrows, we'd packed away our sorrows
And we saved them for a rainy day.
And I was always so impulsive, I guess that I still am,
And all that really mattered then was that I was a man.
I guess that our being together was never meant to be.
And Martha, Martha, I love you can't you see?
Travelin' Prayer -- Billy Joel -- Piano Man (1973)
Hey Lord, take a look all around
And I'd a-find where my baby's gonna be
Hey Lord, would ya look out for her tonight
'Cause she is far across the sea
Hey Lord, would ya look out for her tonight
And make sure that she's gonna be alright
And things are gonna be alright with me
Hey Lord, would ya look out for her tonight
And make sure that all her dreams are sweet
Said now, would ya guide her on the roads
And make them softer for her feet
Hey Lord, would ya look out for her tonight
And make sure that she's gonna be alright
Until she's home and here with me
Hey, Lord would ya look out for her tonight
If she is sleepin' under the sky
Said now, make sure the ground she's sleepin' on
Is always warm and dry
Mmm, don'tcha give her too much rain
Try to keep her away from pain
Because my baby hates to cry
Hey Lord, would ya look out for her tonight
'Cause it gets rough along the way
Said now, this song seems strange is just because
I don't know how to pray
Mmm, won'tcha give her peace of mind
And if you ever find the time
Won'tcha tell her I miss her everyday
Hey Lord, take a look all around
And I'd a-find where my baby's gonna be
Hey Lord, would ya look out for her tonight
'Cause she is far across the sea
Hey Lord, would ya look out for her tonight
And make sure that she's gonna be alright
Until she's home and here with me
With me

It's somewhere 'out there' between The Sugarcubes and The Sundays!
It doesn’t get easier...
Winter
by Tori Amos
Snow can wait, I forgot my mittens
Wipe my nose, get my new boots on
I get a little warm in my heart when I think of winter
I put my hand in my father's glove
I run off where the drifts get deeper
Sleeping beauty trips me with a frown
I hear a voice "You must learn to stand up for yourself"
"'Cause I can't always be around"
He says when you gonna make up your mind
When you gonna love you as much as I do
When you gonna make up your mind
'Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change my dear
Boys get discovered as winter melts
Flowers competing for the sun
Years go by and I'm here still waiting
Withering where some snowman was
Mirror mirror where's the crystal palace
But I only can see myself
Skating around the truth who I am
But I know, dad, the ice is getting thin
When you gonna make up your mind
When you gonna love you as much as I do
When you gonna make up your mind
'Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses are still in bed
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change my dear
Hair is grey and the fires are burning
So many dreams on the shelf
You say I wanted you to be proud
I always wanted that myself
When you gonna make up your mind
When you gonna love you as much as I do
When you gonna make up your mind
'Cause things are gonna change so fast
All the white horses have gone ahead
I tell you that I'll always want you near
You say that things change my dear
Never change
All the white horses
@mister-moggy saidWithout a doubt, that one elicits deep emotions...

That recalls Shakespeare and Macbeth!
For heartfelt lyrics I would look at C S and 'How can I tell you'
Wunderbar!!! You got half my response...the other half is that emotions elicited...
...aw heck!!! It’s no fun if I have to explain my obscurities...
Interesting to note how poetry is dying in lyrics:
Led Zeppelin 1975
If the sun refused to shine
I would still be loving you,
When mountains crumble to the sea,
There’ll still be you and me,
Kind woman, I give you my all,
Kind woman, nothing more.
Nikki Minaj 2012
You a stupid hoe, you a, you a stupid hoe,
You a stupid hoe, you a stupid hoe (yeah),
You a, you a stupid hoe, you a stupid hoe,
You a, you a stupid hoe (stupid, stupid),
You a, you a stupid hoe (stupid, stupid),
Etc ad nauseam...
