i think the reason he keeps asking this random question is because he's just not sure what the answer is and he genuinely wants confirmation that it is actually 4.

well danny666 i can't confirm that if you add 2 with 2 you get 4 but if you merely literally move them side by side you get the number 22.

hope this helps

It depends. In ternary, 2+2=11.

by algebra you can prove a dog has 9 legs - mathematical truth

bit long winded but goes back to my orignal point (shades of truth and all that)

no dog has 5 legs (put this into an equation 0d = 5)

daniel58 has said his dog has 4 legs (equation 1d=4)

Add the equations together (0d+1d = 1d) 1 dog

what you do to one side you do to the other so 5+4 = 9

so a dog has 9 legs

That's wrong though you are saying what the dog does have not what he doesn't have so;

back to my shades of grey point

2+2=?

If you have 2 cats and 2 mice how many animals do you have? (are the mice pregant? does a cat eat a mice? are the cats pregant) 4 isnt such an easy answer is it?

and what if you adding these numbers if they are matrices - they best be of the same order or well you'd have trouble adding them and would need the determinant...

"If you have 2 cats and 2 mice how many animals do you have?"

4.

"are the mice pregant?"

I don't know

"does a cat eat a mice"

That's wrong because you wrote "A mice", it's either 1. a mouse, or 2. the mice.

"are the cats pregant"

You can't spell again, I don't know that either.
