I shot a small bird with an .177 air-rifle some 35 years ago...I didn't kill it (crap shot, I suppose), but I didn't have the heart to finish it off ... I agonised over shooting it in the first place, and then not ending it's suffering ...for a long time....it was 10 years before the mate I was with at the time told me he'd finished it ...[text shortened]... black and white, just isn't.

To paraphrase Van Morrison..... Sometimes We Cry.
I can undertsand that, one was something that you had choice in and the other wasn't. It reminded me about something I read ny a British soldier in world war 1. One night in the trenches an owl perched itself near him and he shot it. He survived the war but said that shooting the owl was the thing that haunted him most out of all the things he had seen in the trenches and the war.

Just shows you the real value of education - none. All dipheads get in to unis and talented and bright dudes like me are left out just because we are too lazy to read for exams.
I too was too lazy at school and left with meaningless qualifications, but I eventually realised how stupid I had been and went back into education at the age of 28 and got a first class honours degree. It was expensive both in time and money (opportunity cost) but it changed my life massively for the better and the cost was repaid in just a few years, leaving all those additional years as a bonus, not to mention a much better quality of life. I would encourage anyone to do this, how old are you? it's never too late, I didn't graduate until I was 32, but there's nothing to stop someone doing it much older than that if you are determined enough. Think of it this way if you are too lazy to help yourself why should anyone else help you?

I think Mark Ronson's twists on Bob Dylan's, The Zuton's, The Smith's songs are superb...
