The website has just changed and I can't see that it says how they calculate the all-rounders now.
Anyhow, Kallis is apparently number one Test all-rounder but doesn't feature as a ODI all-rounder!

How they calculate the batting and bowling ratings is beyond me, probably very complicated and probably secret. I know it takes into account the quality of the opposition, ie for a batsmen the ratings of the bowlers are taken into account. Hope this helps.

However this is really simple compared with Duckworth Lewis. Can you imagine Dr Duckworth and Professor Lewis explaining to Herscelle Gibbs or Darren Gough how they should calculate the effort required in case of rain.
I reckon even the pompus people at the ICC just went "yeah whatever" halfway through their explanation.
