August in south Texas can be a garden killer, but the rain has been adequate and I've got the mulch piled high so some things are still producing. Tomatoes did great this year, only 6 plants and we've pulled 150 tomatoes so far. Likewise the watermelons (er, that is they did good too, not that I got 150 of them!). Ripe and sweet Sugar Babies that are just the right size for my wife and me. Sweet corn had a good crop, but I have to remember to plant more next time. Okra and eggplant LOVE the heat and we love both of them. π And now the hard part: It's 100 degrees (37.77777 C) out there and I need to start getting the Fall garden ready so it will have enough time to mature as the days start to shorten.

Fish knife behind the gills and you know the rest.......
I like to chunk the meat into 4" cubes about 1" thick, oil those or preferably dip in cool melted butter (of the finest quality); now sprinkle with black pepper, a little salt (rock salt of course, hence little - as it's powerful), and a slight touch of oregano. Then roll the resultants in bread crumbs, fully covered - in crumbs I mean, and not covered with a dirty tea-towel. π
Let them sit at air temp for 15 mins, refridgerate for 30 mins, and go on and drop 'em into hot fat, sunflower oil or peanut oil (pref the latter) to 'Deep fry until golden.' ....... Yummeeeee. π
Cod at its best. π
