I'd love to spit some Beechnut in that dude's eyes,
Or shoot him with my old 45's 'cause a country boy can survive.

Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high
Your daddy's rich
And your mamma's good lookin'
So hush little baby
Don't you cry
One of these mornings
You're going to rise up singing
Then you'll spread your wings
And you'll take to the sky
But till that morning
There's a'nothing can harm you
With daddy and mamma standing by
Summertime,
And the livin' is easy
Fish are jumpin'
And the cotton is high
Your daddy's rich

Every time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?
When I woke up, Mom and Dad are rolling on the couch.
Rolling numbers, rock and rollin, got my Kiss records out.
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright, they just seem a little weird.
Surrender, surrender, but don't give yourself away, ay, aaaaaaaay.

He stood six foot six and weight two forty-five,
He's kinda broad at the shoulders and narrow at the hips,
And everyone knew you didn't give no lip, to Big John.
Nobody seemed to know where John called home,
He just drifted into town and stayed all alone,
He didn't say much, he was kinda quiet and shy,
And if you spoke at all, you just said hi to Big John.
Some say he came from New Orleans,
Where he got in a fight over a Cajun Queen,
And crashing blow from his huge right hand,
Sent a Louisiana fella to the promised land, Big John.
Then came the day at the bottom of the mine,
When a timber cracked and men started cryin',
Miners were praying and hearts beat fast,
And everyone thought that they'd breathed their last, except John.
Through the blood and the guts of this man made of hell,
Walked a giant of a man that the miners knew well,
He grabbed a sagging timber and gave out with a groan,
And like a giant oak tree he just stood there alone, Big John.
Then with all of his strength he gave a mighty shove,
And a miner yelled out "There's a light up above!",
Twenty men scrambled from a would be grave,
And now there's only one left down there to save, Big John.
With jacks and timbers they started back down,
Then came that rumble way down in the ground,
And as the gas belched outta that mine,
Everyone knew it was the end of the line for Big John.
Well, they never re-opend that worthless pit,
They just placed a marble stand in front of it.
And these few words are written on that stand,
"At the bottom of this mine lies a big, big man, Big John".
In the past fools would pay
to see the freaks of the day
contradictions of the norm
the bizarre, the wonderful and deformed
no need for the tents
and the cages now
the world comes to my eyes
in front of my TV circus
a freak show in disguise
circles and roundabouts
how much did you know
going round and coming back
the world freak show
swings and revolutions
how much did you know
going round an coming back
world freak show
Another tree is coming down
another harpooned whale is drowned
another child's belly needs feeding
on land of the fast food chain is bleeding
and we bought our new green wool
and pulled it over our eyes
as the circus goes on
all around
a freak show in disguise
circles and roundabouts
how much did you know
going round and coming back
the world freak show
swings and revolutions
how much did you know
going round an coming back
world freak show
The world freak show, world freak show, world freak.

With a faery hand in hand
For the world's more full of weeping

to the old green square back in old Maybole
Rode the wind up to Stornaway,
paused at the peak, pacified my soul
Caught the bus in the faery fort,
made it to the mansion on the Boyne
See, I've come around to the ancient ways
I took a tip from the buddha boy
I just found God
I just found God
I just found God where He always was

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
(And then the bitch will run your credit cards up to the max and leave you to pay off the credit card debt and her divorce attorney's fees. )

I knew she would meet her connection
At her feet was her footloose man
No, you can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime you find
You get what you need
Well he's free as the breeze, he's always at ease,
He lives in the jungle and hangs by his knees,
As he swings through the trees,
without a trapeze, in his BVD's
He's got a union card and he's practicing hard,
To play the guitar,
gonna be a big star,
Carry moonbeams home in a jar.
He ordered Chet's guitar course COD,
Makes A and E and he's working on B,
digs C&W and R&B and me and his chimpanzee agree
that one day soon he'll be a celebrity.
He's gotta girl named Jane with no last name,
A kind of homeless thing but he loves her just the same,
Because it kindles his flame and it drives him insane,
When he hears her sing she really does her thing,
Come on sing one Jane.
Well, they got a pet monkey
who likes to get drunky,
He sings boogie woogie,
and it sounds real funky
your turn now, sing one monkey.
On Saturday night they need some excitement,
Jane gets right, the monkey gets tight,
and their voices unite in the pale moonlight,
and it sound alright...it's dynamite.
He's a Guitarzan,
with his jungle band,
They're all you can stand,
so give them a hand Guitarzan.

Because I need your love so bad

Never gonna match up with that smile
He's wearing mostly black and gold
It's been twelve days
The longest for a while
He's been fortunate
He can't tell a lie
Redheads, blondes, brunettes
They all fall for his lines
He's been king now for so long
His days are numbered
Times have changed, so move along
The dream is over
Draped across Egyptian linen
Even Cleopatra casts an eye
A gossamer see-through zipped up tracksuit
Champagne bottle, ten o'clock on fire
He's been fortunate
He cannot deny
Jacuzzi baronet
With soap suds in his eyes
He's been king now for so long
His days are numbered
Times have changed, so move along

We've been waiting for so long

We think it's over
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
