The post that was quoted here has been removedsure, it's a big chain. but so's comet, and the big supermarket chains sell a lot of consumer electronics nowadays, and then there are dedicated sony and panasonic shops, department stores such as john lewis, random electronic shops a la tottenham court rd in london - i'd be surprised if dixons/currys/pcworld have more than 20% of the market. much more than that and they'd have attracted the attention of the competition authorities, for one thing.
sorry, this is very boring, i'm just having an insomniac moment...

Originally posted by GreatSantiniYes, Toshiba is a quality set. Sounds like a fluke, however... just the other day my old UPS (uninterrupted battery backup) failed and I bought a new one. It had a lot more receptacles than the older model so I plugged my laser printer in as well as the computer.
I used to sell TV's, what happened to you was a fluke, Toshiba has an excellent reputation for quality. their big screen projection tvs are considered the best made.
But guess what? I powered the computer up and then turned the printer on. Wrrrl... wrlll... BAM! It went dead! I think the printer tried to draw more amps than the UPS was able to give it and it died. 😠I suspect it blew an internal fuse but haven't had time to look for it.
