Which was better gone with the wind or the wizard of Oz? Goes back a lot further then that. The wizard of oz has better ticket sales, has sold more copies on video/dvd, has been reran on tv more times, and is loved by more people, but who won?
Oz was an obviously better choice than GWTW, and I think the particular moral
and social climate of the time helped influence its decision over the more abstractly
sentimental Oz.
Just an opinion, though.

I thought that was obvious since the day Forest Gump won best Oscar, instead of Pulp Fiction.
The Oscars always suck.

I would consider it a fantasy movie.
Nemesio : My point was that the hollywood oscars do not reflect the coice of the people. I don't need a film critic nor the hollywood elite to tell me which movie is a masterpiece, or which one I should like.
If we were to speak about the ones that had social impact, or were well acted, or had merit in the history of our world, we would be congratulating Hotel Rwanda.

Hittin' the sauce, perhaps?

Mostly, though, they were crap.
Originally posted by ohfreakWell I think the last thing he was in was Confessions of a Dangerous Mind with Sam Rockwell & George Clooney. He had a small part but he was good.

Still Roy Batty was the man.

I am in total agreement with you here bud. The wife is out at a friends house with twelve other gals watching the Oscars. I thing that we have pumped about $150 bucks in wine shrimp and what not to celebrate the film industry giving themselves a handjob.

I really like Sam Rockwell. In one year he had three movies out: The Green Mile, where is was a sadistic murderer, A Midsummer Night 's Dream, where he was a sweet and innocent man, and Charlie's Angels, where he appeared to be a nice man, but turned out to be a crazy madman. He was so excellent in all three, and nearly unrecognizable as the same actor.
