I know that attraction to me has nothing to do with looks so maybe that will keep some women away. Intelligence and wit are sexy, and generosity.

@great-big-stees saidEven so, one bad slice of meatloaf can ruin your whole day.

@torunn saidI was in a discount store today and was skimming through a copy of Neal Stephenson's "Fall" -- about 1000 pages of small print. It seems like the theme(s) would be relevant to my interests, but I'm not sure about the time commitment, or about giving one author my attention for so many pages.
I was reading the book by John Le Carré - The Little Drummer Girl - Den lilla trumslagarflickan. Fascinating, complicated 700 pages.
When I was younger, authors knew how to wrap up a novel in 150 or 200 pages in many cases. Then eventually the publishing industry started to favor trilogies, series, and longer books -- or maybe just fiction by the pound.
Really more of a short-story reader, and when I was younger and bought a lot of story collections that had introductions I would often just read the introductions, because those were more interesting to me.
Never read "War and Peace" or the LOTR trilogy (I also never got past the second season of "Game of Thrones" on HBO); however, I did read the 1500 pages of the first Thomas Covenant trilogy by Stephen Donaldson in my early twenties, as well as the first three Dune novels by Frank Herbert. Read a lot of Ray Bradbury when I was younger, but none of his novels.
[The remaining 999 pages will arrive individually by container ship. 😉 ]
@torunn saidRelaxation, acceptance, appreciation, and optimism?
If it weren't for fiction, how else would we handle our lives and keep sane.
@very-rusty saidI happen to know that the book @Torunn is reading has a nice quiet study off to the side with a typewriter situated in a handsome roll-top desk.
So, You actually want everyone to believe you can type in here and be absorbed in the book you are reading at the same time? Incredible!!! 🙂

She has sharp ears and eyes, so can still keep up with whatever drama occurs elsewhere in the book.
@torunn saidAlso check to make sure he has nice legs, because those are what last on a guy.
Marry a man who only you will find attractive so that other women will leave him alone. Good advice.
@kevin-eleven saidReally? That is quite a talent! 🙂

@Very-Rusty
At the moment it seems that even @Stees and @Torunn might have banned themselves!
<watches newspaper pages and other debris blow down the vacant streets of this newly depopulated reality>
UNLESS! -- Maybe @Russ has implemented "shards" (similar to something MMOs do), where different subsets of members play on different instances of RHP forums. Hmm . . .
@kevin-eleven saidYou shouldn't try to look to deep into things and think about the different countries and time zones. 🙂
