some extenuating circumstance we can recoil back into some virtual reality. In times
gone past, one did not evade reality unless through opium or some other stimulant, it
was thrust upon you. Its the difference between waking up to a warm centrally heated
home than waking up to that biting chill, with fern like fractal designs painted on the
inside of your windows by 'Jack Frost' and having to chop wood and kindle a fire to
keep warm. The washing machine made one hell of a difference I reckon to ordinary
women. Imagine having to hand wash for like seven kids and a husband, with only a
river and a large stone!

Some things change, some things don't. Same with people. Some wise up, some don't.
Some break bad habits, some don't. Elasticity seems to adore laziness and ignorance.

What may seem a bad habit to some, may not to others.
Some people may think things need changing, others may not.
Is there a right or a wrong? If so, who determines this?

What parts of your life would have been vastly different if you'd been born that much earlier? No hedging, like, "I'd like being my age now, but like things were in the fifties, except with today's life expectancy and today's treatment of age-related diseases, today's anti-discrimination laws and today's knee replacement technology and today's rules against smoking in movie theaters and restaurants."

May I suggest trying a little if you're having difficulty getting to sleep. 😉
I have no idea if it will work or not, but hell give it a go. 😛
Also it can cure some diseases (that is putting wee on yourself, I dont know the details, though)

We then act with purpose and courage... or freeze and cave to circumstantial pressure or cowardice.

It certainly would not mean someone was submitting to pressure or a coward.
Besides on the Interwebz everyone can have courage, they wouldn't normally have in the real world. 😉
