You can get some strange ideas when you haven't been able to walk without pain for almost a year. 😕 But of course if my foot would fall off, I'd most likely get phantom pain, and I guess I'd prefer pain in an existing foot to pain in a non-existing foot.
I know you've mentioned the foot pain more than once, and you've probably elaborated elsewhere as to its nature, but I have to ask... ...what's wrong with your foot?
