I think I'll check out that metallica song 😉
Actually, I just noticed I have that song on my computer, but the version where they played with the Berlin Synphonic (sp?) Orchestra. Downloading the real version now...

I'll keep to modern music:

1. Children of bodom - Downfall - masterpiece of metal
2. Children of bodom - kissing the shadows- best guitar/keyboard solo ever
3. Children of bodom - Silent night bodom night
4. Cacophony - Concerto
5. Cacophony - Speed metal symphony

I've heard loads of Children of Bodom (a little to much screaming for my liking), but how is cacophony mate ??

Those songs are mostly instrumetal, if you liked COB's intrumental parts then you will like cacophony.
Their lead guitarist, Jason becker is a genius with a very interesting/sad life story: http://www.geocities.com/soho/cafe/5200/jbstory.html

Hardcore. Although heavily influenced by The Jesus Lizard, guitar-wise.

I'm not a huge metallica fan, to be honest... No leaf clover happens to be one of the few songs I do like. Besides, I couldn't care less about which bands fit together and which don't. I listen to whatever I like, and if that happens to be Christina Aguilera (whom I don't usually like that much either) and metallica, so be it.

Oh, and in case anybody wans to hear my opinion (No? I don't care...): I like the original, non-live version of "Master of puppets" better than the live one with the orchestra. Just my opinion though 😉

Goes without saying that the original 1986 version is far better then the S&M version (although Battery is awfully fast on the S&M) ...
