I love Fawlty Towers. It was utterly tremendous. I'm trying to think of
a British sitcom that got near it. There haven't been many.

Does UK television have a reputation in America? (or anywhere for that
matter?)

I'd say (from my point of view and probably most people's) that a lot
of the American television we get imported is junk, but that there are
a few very good, very popular shows like the West Wing and the
Sopranos etc.

Is it the same with British TV elsewhere in the world? Some good but a
lot of rubbish stuff too?

I've always liked Dr. Who. A neat show.

I seem to recall there being plans to make a Dr. Who film. I'm not
sure if this is going to happen though.

I think the first crush I ever had on any female was probably that
woman from Dr. Who. I think her real name is Chloe Annette or
something similar. I must have been about 9 or 10 at the time. Didn't
she go on to be Kochanski in Red Dwarf? Or have I gone wrong
somewhere?

The daleks used to scare me big time. Those silvery cybermen gave
me the creeps too. Remember hiding behind the sofa on occasions. I
was (ie am) such a wimp. But yep, as you say Doug, good show.

wimp? for hiding behind the sofa? It's a well known fact that sofa's are
inpenetratable to ALL television based entities

cussions are a poorer but almost as effective second choice

UK has a reputation for detective series, Inspector Morse is my
favourite but there are many more quality series.
I have never seen anything remotely like UK series, certainly not in
Holland or US.
I love Fawlty Towers, tremendous! Young Ones is also a favourite to
me.

We get reruns of the UK version of "Who's Line is it Anyway". Also,
there are new versions of the same show with Drew Carey as the host.
I also believe we get the Eastenders on PBS (public TV)
