There is nothing wrong, with playing somebody that you can easerly beat, & nothing wrong playing against somebody who is handicapped. However there is something wrong in deliberately seeking out people like this to challenging with an alterior motive (as into to get the stamp). However your biggest mistake, is not fully accepting that you made an error of judgement. Deep down you know that it was wrong, or else would not have started this thread. This is not saying that you are a bad person, just that at that time you made a bad judgement. Everybody does it from time to time. Don't waste the lesson from the mistake. Accepting that you made an error & learning from it, is right thing to do.

With 6 stamps you got to play some guy from a mag ...[text shortened]... eds I acted all nice challenged him to a game. I got a easy win of course. Was this wrong of me?
No, it was a bad tourney. If you got to select your opponents, then that is just plain bad organization for a competitive event. Respectable tourneys aren't done this way for just this reason. Morality should not be a factor in competition. You get the luck of the draw, and you do your best to thoroughly stomp the opposition.

If I ever attended a tourney with a set up like that for anything I do (say MTG, or online PVP) I would walk away from it immediately and the sponsors would get holy hell from me, further more if there was a sactioning body over the event they would get an earful from me as well.

I think the very fact that you questioned the morality of the situation is admirable of you. You should not have been put in a position like that. Competitive players don't go to competitive tourneys to be nice; They go there to win. You have a set of rules, and then you do your best to utilize your resources and even the rules themselves to your favor. That's competition.

So, yeah, maybe it wasn't the nicest thing of you to do to seek out weakest link and pound him for an easy win. To the converse, I'm sure many others did just as you and have no regrets. Furthermore, the supervisors of that individual didn't do them any favors (in my humble opinion) taking them to a competition where this sort of thing would surely happen. If you're fallible, your fallible. Your atleast respectably fallible. 😉

P.S. Ditch the pokemon. Piss away your money on CCGs or MMORPGs. 😀
