Ok, let me summarize what I have learned
from you so far.
1. All of our posters should be respected.
2. Except pimps who post about pimping.
3. The primary purpose of my lesson is to degrade.
Two of these points are contradictory to each other,
and one is false. What motiviation would I have
to keep learning from you if all you have to teach
is nonsense or untrue?
Dr. Cribs
or are you trying to tell her what she is saying?
as for 3, the way you depict the pimping business is degrading to women.

It is comments and sentiments such as this, recently
observed in the forums but directed toward Christians
rather than pimps, that led to me choosing this particular
topic for this week's lesson. Perhaps you should reread
it. Maybe you will learn something.
Whatever your intention, it is never OK to use language that puts people down. You have couched your message in an "analogy" that degrades women.
As a woman, I find it offensive and completely reprehensible.

As an intelligent human being, I find Democrats offensive,
I find Republicans offensive, I find feminists offensive,
I find atheists offensive, I find Christians offensive, I find
Jews offensive, I find foreigners offensive, I find my
neighbors offensive, I find white people offensive, and
I find black people offensive.
All of these are discussed freely here. I have never so much
as whispered a complaint about their right to be discussed,
because I recognize that we all have our own different
ideas, none of which can hurt you, but could possibly
enlighten you.
Dr. Cribs
P.S. I find vegans offensive too.

if you find being insulted offensive, surely you would try in some measure not to be insulting.
if you find being exploited offensive, surely you would not want to exploit someone else.
if you have been humiliated, surely you would not try to do the same to another.
geez! that's such a long list of people to be offended by!
and yet you seem like such a happy guy - perhaps, it's really not so bad.
besides, i recall from what osse has told us, you are really a 55 yr old vicar.

this is the most brilliant observation put forth
so far in this thread.
I am a happy guy, and one reason is that I do not have
fear of others' ideas.
Offense is a personal problem. It's all in one's head.
If everybody would just get over it like I have, we
would all get along better and people would not be
so angry.
Dr. Cribs
I'm going to stick my neck out a bit in defense of Cribs here. His pimpin' persona is extremely well-developed satire in the proud tradition of Sacha Cohen and Andy Kaufman. I think becoming offended by something that clever is a massive failure of imagination, and while I don't mean to stereotype anybody, I think this is a standard case of a socially conscious person not having a sense of humor.
Of course, this is void if the person behind Cribs' persona (and please refer to my many earlier posts on the diference between the persona and the person) is an actual pimp. That doesn't bother me any, but it does make what I perceived as self-righteousness into more of a legitimate topic for discussion.
Originally posted by Cribsi do not see how on one hand you can find so many things offensive, yet on the other say that you have gotten over it. if you have gotten over it, then those things aren't offensive anymore.

once again, the issue isn't simply a matter of who is offended. it has to do with how we treat other people.

When you make a joke about Class A of people, you are not
laughing at those individuals or that group as a whole. If the
humor is intelligent, it is found in the stereotypes of how
Class A differs from the rest of the world.
While the socially conscious like to "Celebrate our Differences,"
it can be just as healthy to "Celebrate our Perceived Differences."
Originally posted by Cribsbut you aren't celebrating anything, perceived or otherwise.

you are, in pixelated format of course, getting a group of women to work for you, whether they like it or not, and paying them whatever you see fit. that is exploitation, in pixelated format albeit, and it is degradation in any format.

You are the one who is stereotyping. Not all pimps are that way.
Regardless, I am leveraging that perception to share some of my
deeper insight into life within and outside of our little microcosm
of reality that we call RHP.
Dr. Cribs
Originally posted by Cribsno i am not saying that all pimps are abusive, exploitive, and degrading at all - even though that seems to be the accepted stereotype.

Dr. Cribs
but i am saying that you are - or at least give that impression (as a joke i'm sure, but still not funny):
Yo, I got dis one Russian ho named Katya. I work her
all around tha Red Square and under tha bridges in
St. Petersburg.
Ho's never tell me Nyet!, unless they want a one-way ticket to Siberia
the above certainly fits the exploitive and abusive criteria - it seems rather degrading too.
please do not think that i haven't noticed and appreciated your contributions since your arrival here - i have already told you so in the other thread.
but surely, a different way can be found - because, you are right, it is our reality here on RHP.

that other cultures and sub-cultures can have their own
expressions and style of speaking that are perfectly acceptable
within their own community, but which are unacceptable when
brought to your upper-class dinner table.
By saying that I shouldn't speak that way is essentially saying,
"We don't allow your kind at our table." Either that or "If you're
going to eat with the rest of us, then you need to talk like the rest
of us." They are both about the same, so take your pick. Either
way, I'd rather just pick something up at Dairy Queen tonight.
Dr. Cribs
P.S. Surely you don't think pimps are too feeble-minded
to speak in metaphors, or do you?. Do you think I literally
send my ho's on a train to Siberia?

and we aren't talking about styles of speaking either.
here's what it's about:
1. I work her all around tha Red Square and under tha bridges in St. Petersburg
2. Ho's never tell me Nyet!, unless they want a one-way ticket to Siberia
point 1 is specifically an exploitive action and they don't say nyet because point 2 the abusive threat of siberia looms in the distance.
this lies beyond cultures and sub-cultures, and you have certainly not poetically painted an amorous encounter expressing your glorification of womanhood in any language.
you are most certainly welcome to dine at our table - you'll have to eat vegetarian though.
