Jackson Frank, Blues Run the Game.
Jackson had a very tough life. An orphan put in an orphanage that burned to the ground in an accidental fire where out of 55 kids in that building, he was the only survivor. Dozens of skin graph operations to try to fix burns on 50% of his young body (8 yo) left him scarred for life in more than one way.
He became a well known folk singer/songwriter in the 60's and this song was recorded by Simon and Garfunkle among others and Simon himself recorded Jackson's album.
He was so unsure of himself he told Simon and the recording crew to put up barriers so they wouldn't see him singing.
He died about ten years ago, a homeless wreck but you can see the power in his songs. Such a tragic life.
