Today I was listening to myself practicing the fiddle, autoharp, guitar, mandolin and 5 string banjo (frailing). My 1944 Martin 0-18 just lost a peg, which sucks, don't know how it popped out. It is a GREAT guitar! The autoharp has started breaking strings, it costs over 50 bucks to replace all the strings, which also sucks. I had to repair my 1908 Gibson A2 mandolin, it decided to split up the middle but managed a sneaky repair. The fiddle is French, from 1901, a virtuoso buddy fiddler in Jerusalem called it a 'cannon', it is so loud! So is the Mandolin, it drowns out tenor banjo's!

Also have to replace the strings on our Takamine classic guitar, 2 strings broke just sitting in the music room. It is a really nice classic guitar, for a Japanese classic, one of the better sounding ones. I use Savarez high tension strings on it and it sounds great. My wife bought it from her guitar teacher in 1968 for 300 bucks and it is getting close to 50 years old now so it is really mellowed out and is also really loud for a classic guitar.

Her favorite instrument is the lap dulcimer. Our genius buddy in Jerusalem, Ray Scudero, RIP, made her a dulcimer that is totally unique, the dulcimer equivalent of the Hardanger Swedish fiddle, a set of 3 strings to pluck and another set of 3 strings buried just like the Hardanger, which gives it a resonance never before heard on a dulcimer.

We have done many a gig with just dulcimer and guitar. She is the singer and songwriter in our family, I just write tunes, usually starting to compose using mandolin but some tunes I made up using keyboards. I have a GREAT keyboard, the Kurzweil PCX-1, an 88 key unit that makes a great MIDI controller but has a nice pack of internal sounds, the one I use most often is just the built in grand piano sound. It has weighted keys and plays just like a real piano, not like those Casio toys.
