Brahms : Violin Concerto in D major Op.77 — Maxim Vengerov; Daniel Barenboim: Chicago Symphony Orchestra
I'm listening to this concerto over and over to practice active listening, get a feel for the way the music develops over the course of the piece, and to learn to better distinguish instruments within the orchestra and the various sounds they produce. It's a pause on a cruise through my music collection to identify singable tunes and add them to a playlist.
The new album by The Waterboys. Very underwhelming. This may be the only instance when I will listen to it. I have been loyal to them for 30 years on account of their terrific first four albums. The last 25 years have only repaid this loyalty fitfully and increasinglylessly. And there don't seem to seem to be any fitfuls on this latest effort. Ho hum.
Note: with "increasinglylessly" I have yet again coined a brand new word.

Verdi: La Forza Del Destino
Renata Tebaldi, Mario Del Monaco, Ettore Bastianini, Giulietta Simionato; Fracesco Molinari-Pradelli: Orchestra and Choir of the Academy of St Cecilia

I've had Macbeth on near-repeat for quite a while. I'm finding The Force of Destiny a little harder to get into, but I did enjoy it.
