I am PURE English, right back to the dawn of time. And no court could prove otherwise!
Studious widowed cousin has traced our family tree back to 1825, is an avid suscriber to ancestral data sources

(looks at Swedish village records, ship documents, attends Boston area meetings, lectures, etc)... trying her best to get

back to the same dawn. My wife's paternal grandparents were descended from a line of British Royalty (Moore).

Sorry Adolf.

You make me ashamed of my British heritage, if that's any consolation.

Actually adolf hitler was austrian (not german as you americans would probably think) - definately not british.

You can have that tip for free, I am in such a generous mood tonight.

Thinking of our parents and grandparents and families, as we've been doing

tonight, thought you might enjoy this nostalgic rendition by Josh Groban...

When did I say he was German, Austrian or British?

He was a racist. Much like you.

I don't think there's any such thing, is there? Lots of conquerers and intermarriage and forced things throughout history. How are you defining race? And why would only having one bring either pride or shame?

We know he was Austrian. We learned that along with capitalizing proper nouns (since we're passing along free tips). The shame doesn't attach to Hitler and his ancestry but to you and yours, because of your statement.

Which English?

Aussie kids did English history, because we were still an English possession as far as our ancient teachers were concerned. They told us about several varieties of English (sequence guaranteed to be wrong, I'm an ignorant Aussie after all)

Angles (where the name came from), Celts, Picts, Scots (who got chased up north by a later lot), assorted Viking invaders, assorted French invaders, finally Normans (1066 and all that).

I don't even know which lot were there when Julius Caesar came along, but I'm sure his guys left a few little Romans behind too ...

Ah, nice cop-out to avoid German German German German. Mine were East Prussian - East Prussian and Bremener - Bremener. Luckily my generation is making things a lot more interesting.
