To tell you the truth, I very much enjoy traditional gospal. Lovely melodies and some real talented singing and playing.
I don't go to church or own up to the lyrics. But I find it a pleasant listen now and then.

After the recent publishing of the Ryan report, the only Hymn allowed in The Catholic Church in Ireland is "Oh God, where will we get the money to pay the abused".
like anyone was surprised by any of that report. a nice legacy the irish catholic church have created for themselves there.

I can accept that even though I disagree.
I am not like most of the atheists on this site who seem to want to beat anyone who professes to be religious, to me that is no better than the religious fundamentals who are unwilling to accept another point of view.
The post that was quoted here has been removedWe had to sing a hymn every morning, although calling our educational home 'religious' would be a stretch too far. Still, I remember many inspiring lyrics:
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Oh-oh ... sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
