What does you rating mean to you?

Is it entwined with your ego? Does it effect mood when you lose? Does it elate you when you win well? For me it matters considerably, but not at the expense of enjoyment. I can enjoy to lose at times and am happy in the 1600s. There is no real motivation to excel, or push higher. I just love the chess.
Anyone got any articualte, interesting contribution about what their rating means to them? 🙂

I hate losing to an awful mistake (which is usually what happens when I lose), but I'm not to worred about it when it is due to a perplexing tactic.
Of course I love to win as well.

When I see there is no chance I most often resign to save myself further suffering. When I make a stupid move,it has been submited I usually shout for a moment,just to have a glass of cold water and a pipe and calm down. Generally speaking, I don't feel rating something most important in the world,but hate stupid loses...
