I can also see where internet chess is also like a live match. It's something between the two (correspondence and live match play).
Perhaps they should consider "no book or periodical" tour ...[text shortened]... for the responses. I definitely learned something about chess at this site from this thread.

Obviously databases and books are allowed in cc. We play here to improve, this is'nt blitz, nor is it a tournament for high stakes. It's scholars chess, that's the nature of this game.
I read chess books and I study databases all the time. Since I play here everyday, and I always have games ongoing, it does'nt make sense to say I can't study while I'm playing.
