I remember reading about a child who was born without a sense of pain, and IIRC he had already lost several fingers at the age of two. Pain is there for a reason.
Indeed! In the know cases of children having this rare condition they all died fairly young. I believe the oldest one lived to be 18...

Does the "pain" of lost love count as this kind of pain?

"Pain is there for a reason."

From your observation, do you suppose we may extrapolate that in the scheme of things pains in the arse are beneficially spawned in forums?

That's a rhetorical question right GB?

Well, sometimes pain turns chronic and loses its meaning.

What would existence be like for a child born with no senses... no sight, no taste, no smell, no hearing, no touch? During Thanksgiving

Week I was thinking about all of the many people, conveniences, blessings and things we all tend to take for granted. Our five senses

would probably rank quite high on such ...[text shortened]... to forfeit one, which would it be and which would be the last you'd like to lose?

I suppose I'll run counter to the conventional wisdom and say that, were I forced to forfeit one (not that I would ever want to give it up voluntarily), I would choose sight. Yes, I am aware of potentially how debilitating that could be. The one that I would give up last would be the sense of touch.

By the way, GB, I'm interested in which you would choose to do without first and last.

Actually, hearing would not be too bad - I would still be able to do these chats on the internet and in real life I could say what I wanted to people and not have to hard what they replied. I could be the greatest debater the world had ever seen, because nothing my opposition said could possibly break my composure.

Ask a MD what could happen to you if you had no sense of feeling of pain.

Is not perception a sixth sense?
