Can't bake a cake big enough to get them all on there. He is having a favorite dessert...pumpkin pie and whipped cream. 🙂

Originally posted by sumydidWhen I lived close to my family, I always baked the pies for the Thanksgiving dinners. Always had two pumpkin pies and two apple or mince meat pies. Now my daughter lives close to my sisters, and guess who is making those pies? Someday, I hope to be back with them. Eating Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant year after year, just does not bring the joy that being with one's family does. :'( It has been 37 lonely Thanksgivings for me.

Ah, minced meat pies. Nothing more disgusting have I ever tasted, with the possible exception of fruitcake. I know, those are very traditional. But that's why I make pumpkin pies without the ginger and cloves. Those spices require a very specific taste. And my Mexican in-laws love my pumpkin pie, saying they hated "regular" pumpkin pie, so, I guess I have some data to back me up. 🙂
Sign o' the times? Good bye to all-spice and cloves? I hope so!!!
